About Christ In Y'all

IS YOUR GOSPEL TOO SMALL? Is it primarily concerned with getting people to heaven? Ironically, God intends to make his home here on earth—in the community of believers.

Life as a follower of Jesus was never meant to be lived alone. Hearing God speak and following his voice are jobs for a "we" rather than a "me." When the Apostle Paul announces that "Christ in you [is] the hope of glory," that "you" is plural. In other words, Christ in Y'ALL is the hope of glory.

In Christ In Y'all, I attempt to explain how spiritual formation is a collective endeavor. After spending nearly a decade meeting in homes with Christians, I can describe a few key elements to having a thriving Christian community. I set out to give practical insights into surviving the pitfalls of home-based fellowships.

Response to Christ In Y'all

“In the past 30 years I have read numerous excellent books about life in the Body of Christ. Neil Carter’s Christ in Y’All: Following Jesus into Community is hands down one of the most encouraging, challenging and heart-warming presentations I have ever come across. His handling of New Testament perspectives is done with grace, insight, and born out of well-founded concerns for how human traditions and American culture have negatively impacted us. It pretty much all boils down to what Neil says about following Christ in self-sacrifice:

We are on this journey together and we should expect to make a lot of mistakes along the way. The important thing is that we follow the example of the One who is always laying down his life for those whom he loves. We are not out to preserve our lives but to lose them. If we can remember that, we can go anywhere.

I believe the Spirit of God will bless this book to help the saints grow significantly in the ways of the Lord!"

Penned with the soul of a mystic and the common sense of an experienced pragmatist, Neil Carter's Christ In Y'all is a refreshing invitation to follow Jesus into a whole new way of life – a life shared with others. In each other, Carter suggests, our joy in God is made complete. Beyond a simplistic treatment of 'house church,' this book probes the heart of Jesus' good news, showing how it can transform entire communities through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Highly recommended.
